Overview

3HG Enterprises Inc. d.b.a. NAWA, is proud of our talented and committed staff. Nawa provides a variety of opportunities to work with our clients. Such opportunities range from teaching junior high and high school students in our boarding school to facilitating teambuilding and rescue workshops for adults. We go to great lengths to recruit people who are flexible and resourceful, professional in their actions, and who have a strong sense of integrity. To work effectively with our clients requires enthusiasm, patience, creativity, compassion and a strong desire to work with people. Those who apply must be capable of the physical and emotional demands of the position.


How to Apply


If you or someone you know is interested in applying for a position at Nawa, please follow these five steps:
  1. Send us a resume with a cover letter to the Nawa office. This information may be emailed, faxed or mailed.
  2. Upon receipt of your resume, we will mail you an information packet with an employment application (recommendation forms are included in the application). Please review the information carefully. Please note that the employment application is also posted online and can be downloaded and returned to us along with your resume as well.
  3. If you feel that you share our vision of working with young people and posses the needed qualities, complete and return the application to the Nawa office.
  4. Once we receive the employment application and a position is vacant, applicants are screened for eligibility by Administration and may be invited for an interview. Most potential employees are required to have in-person interviews.
  5. Potential employees applying to our boarding school or summer programs must be in good health, free from communicable diseases, have current immunizations, and have their fingerprints submitted to the Department of Justice. All perspective staff must pass an initial TB test. A clear DMV driving report is also required.


Getting your Foot in the Door

One of the best ways to get your foot in the door at Nawa is to attend our Spring Rescue Training. This training is available to participants ages 18 and up and consists of a five and-a-half day training including vertical rescue, cave rescue, swift water rescue, wilderness first aid, leadership and teambuilding. This is an opportunity for the applicant to learn more about Nawa and in turn, it is a chance for Nawa to learn more about the applicant. Note: It is not mandatory for the prospective employee to attend this training to be considered for employment.

Nawa Adventure Summer School

  1. Teaching Faculty
    • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and ideally a Master's Degree and/or teaching credential
    • Must be skilled camping and traveling in the outdoors
    • Must have a valid and clear driver's license
    • Must be cleared by the Live Scan (FBI background search) process
    • Must have their own camping and backpacking equipment
    • Must have an approved climbing helmet
    • Must have an approved climbing harness
    • Must attend a seven day summer staff training prior each summer
    • Must demonstrate an ability to use the environment to teach experientially
    • Must have a current certification in basic first aid and CPR (Ideally EMT or WFR)

  2. Team Leaders
    • Must be certified either as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or First Responder
    • Must be certified in swift water rescue (our Spring Training offers this cert.)
    • Must be certified in vertical rescue (our Spring Training offers this cert.)
    • Must satisfy requirements set by the Nawa Safety Committee
    • Must have a valid and clear driver's license
    • Must be cleared by the Live Scan (FBI background search) process
    • Must have their own camping and backpacking equipment
    • Must have an approved climbing helmet
    • Must have an approved climbing harness
    • Must attend a seven day summer staff training prior each summer
    • Must demonstrate an ability to organize and lead groups of students

  3. Base Camp Staff
    • Must be have a current certification in basic first aid and CPR

    • Must have their own camping equipment

Nawa Rescue

Introduction

Becoming a rescue instructor with Nawa Rescue requires a solid commitment. We go to great lengths to ensure that our rescue instructors will provide a safe, top-notch experience for our clients.

  1. Swift Water Rescue Instructors
    • Must be currently certified either as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), First Responder, or Wilderness First Responder
    • Must be currently certified in Swift Water Rescue 2
    • Must demonstrate proficiency of skills during any season
    • Must be approved by the Nawa Safety Committee for advancement to Instructor level
    • Must be certified in vertical rescue
    • Must have a valid and clear driver's license
    • Must be cleared by the Live Scan (FBI background search) process
    • Must have their own camping and backpacking equipment
    • Must have required personal swift water rescue gear

  2. Vertical Rescue Instructors
    • Must be currently certified either as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), First Responder, or Wilderness First Responder
    • Must be currently certified in Vertical Rescue 2
    • Must demonstrate proficiency of skills during any season
    • Must be approved by the Nawa Safety Committee for advancement to Instructor level
    • Must have a valid and clear driver's license
    • Must be cleared by the Live Scan (FBI background search) process
    • Must have their own camping and backpacking equipment
    • Must have required personal vertical rescue gear

  3. Master Rescue Instructors
    • Must be currently certified either as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), First Responder, or Wilderness First Responder
    • Must be currently certified in Vertical Rescue 2
    • Must apprentice with a Master Rescue Instructor for period of 2 years
    • Must instruct a minimum of ten Vertical Rescue 1 courses
    • Must be currently certified in Swift Water Rescue 2
    • Must demonstrate proficiency of skills during any season
    • Must be approved by the Nawa Safety Committee for advancement to Instructor level
    • Must be approved by the Director of Safety and Rescue for advancement to Instructor level
    • Must have a valid and clear driver's license
    • Must be cleared by the Live Scan (FBI background search) process
    • Must have their own camping, backpacking equipment, and personal protective equipment
    • Must have required personal vertical rescue gear
    • Must demonstrate solid teaching skills during any season

Positions at Nawa Academy

Boarding School

Nawa Academy Inc. is a private, non-profit boarding school that partnerships with 3HG Enterprises Inc., to provide a quality environment for learning for students seeking an alternative to traditional education.

Below is a list of staff positions. Included is a brief description of some of the qualities required.

  1. Teaching Faculty
    • Teaches to students in grades 7-12
    • Credential and/or advanced degrees are recommended
    • Demonstrated ability to teach experientially

  2. Program Staff
    • Capable of supervising students engaged in a myriad of activities.
    • Ability to lead recreational and indoor social activities

  3. Weekend Activity Staff
    • Ability to lead recreational and indoor activities.
    • Ability to teach outdoor education skills
    • Ability to snowboard or ski is recommended

  4. Kitchen Staff
    • Demonstrated ability to cook for large groups
    • Ability to relate effectively with staff and students

  5. Maintenance Staff
    • Ability to build and repair all aspects of a facility
    • Knowledge of building codes is recommended

  6. Housekeeping Staff
    • Ability to handle all housekeeping and laundry duties
