A Few of the Great and Creative Thinkers of Our Time -- Click Here
Most Nawa students prefer a hands-on approach to learning. Some have
a learning difference like dyslexia, auditory processing, and visual
processing. Others have attention deficit or time management issues.
If your child has been diagnosed with a learning difference (LD),
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD), or if your child learns differently than the
mainstream, you will find the following information useful.

1. What kind of students do best at Nawa?
All Nawa students are cognitively bright and many test very
high in I.Q. About half of the student body has learning differences
or time management issues. The other half is comprised of students
who want a different approach to learning. Most students have not
been challenged or stimulated in their past school. The unique
approach to education and the specialized academic programs offered at
Nawa attract a variety of students.
2. Can Nawa accommodate my child's learning style?
If your child has not progressed educationally in a
traditional academic setting, Nawa's "hands-on" approach to education
has a very high chance of succeeding. Academic Instructors tailor the
course-work to meet the learning styles of each student. Nawa is
widely known for its patience in working with each student.
3. How will you use experiential education to increase my child's
academic success?
The word "experiential" means to learn through doing rather than just
listening or memorizing. Each course has a hands-on component that
allows the students to understand what they are learning.
Using both the classroom and many outdoor environments, Academic
Instructors are able to maximize this "hands-on" learning experience
for each student.
4. My child feels "beaten down" over the years by teachers who don't
understand the learning difference. How do I know that my child isn't
going to get more discouraged?
The faculty and staff at the Nawa are dedicated to fostering
an environment of success for each student. Students are treated
fairly, with respect and invited to make active decisions in all areas
of their education. Soon, the students discover that Academic
Instructors and staff will continue to work with them instead of
"giving up."
5. My child is a hand-full- disorganized, forgetful, and the bedroom
is always a mess! How does your school address these issues?
Consistency and patience are the ingredients. We offer a fair, safe
and consistent environment for each student to grow.
