Regardless of the summer program chosen, students experience the vast
offerings of Base Camp two days each week. Situated on 556 acres in
the Trinity Mountains, Base Camp offers a wide variety of activities.
Using Clear Creek and Whiskeytown Lake for water sport activities,
students have the opportunity to enjoy swimming, floating on
inner-tubes, playing water volleyball, panning for gold and fishing.
Students choose among games of basketball, soccer and volleyball, or
may test themselves on the low elements rope course or skateboard
half-pipe. Students who have parental consent, may participate in
playing paintball on one of our paintball courses. Arts and crafts
and games in the Student Club are also enjoyed by our students.
During this two day period, time is set aside for students to work on
their academic subjects under the direction of our experienced
academic instructors. The computer lab, library and additional
educational resources are available during these times.
While at Base Camp, students receive mail and care packages, make
phone calls, write letters, check email accounts, wash clothes and
celebrate an occasional birthday. At the end of the day, students and
staff gather around the campfire to share skits, songs and stories.
